Focusing on the good

My mom's surgery was on Friday. They found that the cancer had not spread, and she shouldn't need any follow-up radiation or chemotherapy. It will take a while for her to recover from the major surgery though. Minnow and I will be with her starting Tuesday. I feel very helpless being this far away, and I'm sorry this has all fallen on to Brother's shoulders.

Best wishes for a wholesome recovery for Science Grandma, my thoughts are with you, Fish, Minnow and the whole Sciencefamily.

My Dad had a major cancer op (skincancer in an awkward place), didn't need radio or chemo either, and made a full recovery - still going strong 6 years later, no sign of the cancer (touch wood). I hope Sciencegrandma has the same experience.

PS - lightbulb moment! It's only typing this that I finally made the connection between Fish and Minnow. Ohhhh I geddit now :-)

I'm glad to hear those good news! It is hard to be away when you feel a loved one needs you. Best wishes for your travel to and stay with ScienceGrandma, especially for her recovery, of course.

Glad to hear your Mom's surgery went well and that the cancer had not spread. I wish for her a quick and safe recovery. And I totally understand the frustration of being far away (I am in Germany right now, all my family is in Mexico... and Husband's family in the US... so we are "a bit" far away!)... But, I am glad you will get to spend some time there :)
