the early bird gets the name

My dad's wife's eldest daughter had her first child today. I wouldn't even mention it except that not only are my dad and his wife crowing about the arrival of "their first grandchild," but the little girl is named Rebecca Elizabeth. Two of the first names that were on our short short list for a girl. Urgh. Suddenly I am hoping that mini is a boy. Only 24 more weeks until we find out.

Off to a Saturday morning meeting with my advisor.

Science gal. . . just scratch those off. . . I wouldn't even allow that to bug me. . . there are so many beautiful girl names. . . if you are blessed with a girl . . the name you choose will be perfect. . . wait and see. . . oh and I'd pick a boy name just in case. . . I have seen the pictures lie. . . not on purpose. . . but they are deceptive if the little hands in the wrong place.

I run a website, Babes in Blogland, that lists ttc, expecting, and new-parent bloggers to help us all find one another. I've added your site to the blogroll. If you need me to correct any information or if you would like for me to remove the link, please let me know.

Thank you and congratulations.

I know just how you feel. Especially, "the first grandchild" thing (and the name thing too). Sorry. I hope it won't bother you for too long. I'll call you soon.

I recently found out that a friend of mine has a niece who has the inverse of her name. My friend's name: Kate Elizabeth. Her neice's name: Elizabeth Kate. They aren't very far apart in age (as your baby and her cousin...I think cousin is the right thing...would be). And the similarity in their names created a special bond between them from the very beginning. So, no need to entirely erase those name from your list. Depends on your relationship with your step-sister, probably.

sicilian - we don't know we are having a girl. We don't want to find out. And we do have a boy name picked out - it's along the lines of business man junior. (not my choice)

s. - thanks for the link. I'll add you to my blogroll.

Chica - I knew you'd understand. Looking forward to your call.

turtlebella - I like your story, but I don't expect that my child and her "cousin" will have much of a relationship. I've only met my "step-sister" once - at my dad's wedding.
